2010 Guild Challenge

Let’s Bring It to the runway! Create a garment following the theme of the Tennessee Presents Textiles 2010 wearable art runway show, “The Power of the Pocket.” Any type of textile can used in the creation of the garment: woven, knitted, crocheted, felted, etc. The garment must be an article of clothing: a shirt or blouse, vest, jacket, coat, dress, skirt or pants. A hat, gloves, bag or purse would be considered an accessory for your garment and can be included as part of your entry ensemble.

Challenge Guidelines
Your Challenge garment entry must meet these requirements:
  • have at least one pocket. The pocket(s) can be on the inside or the outside of the garment.
  • include one non-functional design element (for example, a surface design technique, hand dyeing, painting, decorative stitching, quilting, embroidery, beading, or some type of embellishment).
  • be accompanied by a completed entry form (available to guild members).
If you choose to create an accessory to complement your garment—a purse, hat, scarf, belt, etc.—the design element requirement can be fulfilled on the accessory provided the accessory is an obvious part of the ensemble and is also created by you. Entries are due by Friday, September 10, at noon.

The Challenge Exhibit and Award Presentation will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 11, 2010. Challenge entries will be on display and light refreshments will be available. Come and vote for the Viewers' Choice award.
